Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Attorney won't file my final dissolution of marrige.

I hired an attorney to handle my divorce in 2002. She's paid in full and to this date, she is always making excuses, about my case and still, I'm not divorced. I called the Duval County Court Clerk and they've advised me the only document missing to make this divorce final, is the FINAL DISSOLUTION of MARRIAGE. I'm tired of receiving excuses from my attorney and can't even get her to return my calls.

What can I do? I've tried to have her resign as counsel, but she doesn't return my calls. Please help.

You can fire your attorney at will. A registered letter to the attorney ending his or her employment will do the job. As for the final order - if you have a signed marital settlement agreement, the final order is relatively easy to prepare. You can either prepare one from the florida self-help forms or another attorney can prepare one for you to file.
