It's hard to say why the prosecutor is doing what he is doing with the limited facts provided. Perhaps your husband's history makes the prosecutor not want to offer a deal. Perhaps the facts of this case are especially egregious. Or perhaps the prosecutor is just a jerk. In an event, the defense attorney should be making more of an effort to reach out to the prosecutor, or at least set a plea conference to see if the judge is willing to offer anything. Perhaps your husband would have better luck with a private attorney.

There are literally hundreds of reasons a prosecutor would not offer a plea deal at the pretrial. Without more information, it is impossible to even speculate as to why a plea deal is not being offered. I would strongly recommend your husband retain a private defense attorney to assist in preparing for trial. My firm offers free case consultations and has handled many resisting arrests without violence cases. We are also located in Tampa. Our office line is 813-830-2261. Good luck.
