Legal Question in Personal Injury in Florida

Stacking Coverage

My friend who does not speak english was involved in a serious accident (broken bones, torn shoulder)in orlando. His vehicle was rear ended by a 2006 mercedes. The adjuster said something about stacking coverage. I am not sure if there will be enough insurance for a lawyer to take his case and thus was wondering what stacking coverage is.

Re: Stacking Coverage

When a person is injured in a car accident, he first makes a claim against the at-fault driver's "bodily injury liability" coverage on his insurance policy. If the at-fault driver does not have enough coverage, then your friend's "underinsured motorist" coverage on his own policy would come into play. Stacking is a concept that if there are multiple cars on your friend's insurance policy, then the undersinsured motorist coverage may be multipled by the number of cars on the policy. Your friend has a good claim and he really should consult with a lawyer who's skilled in this area, preferably one who is board certified in civil trial law, as the lawyers in our firm are. We offer a free initial consultation and can speak with him in Spanish or Portuguese if his English isn't so good. We'd be happy to speak to him about the case.

Re: Stacking Coverage

Dear Sir:

I handle cases such as these all over the state of Floria, Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

You did not indicate which langauge your friend spoke. I would be happy to retain an interpreter to help translate so that I can hear more about his serious car accident.

Many times, an attorney can negotiate a much higher settlement than a consumer can negotiate by himself. This is why your friend may want to hire a lawyer.

It is important that your friend treat his injuries fully now to minimize the chance of a permanent life long problem.

If you are interested in talking about his options further, please call me at 561.266.9191.

Wishing you a happy and healthy New Year.

Re: Stacking Coverage

That refers to Uninsured motorist coverage that "stacks" coverage on top of itself, so that if you have 2 cars, you get double the coverage, thre cars, triple the coverage and etcetera.
