Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Florida

Unable to pay full debt at this time.

I have been unable to make a full payment to the homeowners association and they had hired a lawyer to collect the missed payments. I have been out of work for 2 months and 20 days. Now I just recieved a letter : civil action summons. A lawsuit has been filed againts me and that I have 20 days to response.

What can I do I really want to pay the debt in parts but, when we contacted the lawyer to make monthly payments he demanded the full amount to be pay.

Any help please..

Re: Unable to pay full debt at this time.

When an association files a civil law suit, it is to foreclose on your home. If you can not make the payment in full you can consider Bankruptcy. You will still have to pay the accounts, but the BK court will grant you a little more time than the association attorney.

Keep in mind that any BK filing, even if later it is dismissed, will seriously hurt your credit score. For more information on credit law, please visit our web page:
