Legal Question in Disability Law in Florida

my wife and I are expecting and she makes 3 time the pay rate as I do. I have worked at my job 3 years and my employer said he is to short handed to let me off for the beginning weeks after the birth. Please respond with my options. Thank you. Daniel Graham
