Legal Question in Administrative Law in Florida
I am interested in researching exactly what defamation of character means. I have an ex-wife of my husband who is accusing me in a letter of how I am a threat to her and my husband's son, age 15. She has made some terrible accusations that I wish to counteract. Please advise.

Defamation is false statements of fact made to others which cause you damage. Here, she did not make the statements to anyone else, so it is not defamation. Additionally, statements of opinion are not defamation. There is, of course, much more to it, but this is the short version.
This sounds more like a family law issue if custody, visitation, or safety of the child is in question.
