cashing third party check
for what period of time is a bank liable after cashing a third party that is accepted by the original maker of the check as valid

Hi:
Does this involve a claim of fraud? Generally, a check becomes stale after six months. Depending on the circumstances and whether the bank is federally chartered or state chartered would also have to be figured into the legal equasion.
