Legal Question in Banking Law in Florida

Hello

My husband received a phone call from a attorney's office on his work phone regarding me and they left a message stating I need to have myself or my attorney contact them regarding 3 pending charges that are going to be filed in my county she stated its regarding me trying to fraud a financial institution and if I dont contact her this would not end well in my favor.first of all should I get a notice in the mail first. Is this legal the last I remember is yes I do owe a bank 900.00 dollars but I never by any means try to fraud anybody. Iam so scared I want to fix this I called her back but since its sunday I just stated I was calling back to see what this is in regards to left a message. I saw my credit report and saw what I owe the bank on there will there be a way to fix this and me not get prosecuted please help. Thanks

This is a common tactic from a collection agency, and probably has no merit at all. Indeed, it might be a violation of the fair debt collection practices act, which seem to be abundant in this economy. My suggestion is that you find out all you can about it, and get the name and address of the company, and take the information to a local attorney for a consultation.
