Re: chapter 7
Hello: I just read your question. I'm surprised there are no bankruptcy lawyers in Gainesville. You might want to check (if you havn't already done so) with the local bar asssociation. Most local bar assoc. have referral lists to provide to people.
If that is to no avail, you certainly could hire an atty. without meeting in person. You need to make sure that atty. is reputable. I have had clients in the past from as far away as Vero Bch. hire my office to handle their BR case since our court has jurisdiction over their county and they did not want to pay an atty. in their town to travel to Jax. for the creditor's meeting. This jurisdiction is called the Northern District of Florida. I'm not sure without looking it up whether G'ville. is in our district or Orlando's. You could look that up on Federal Bankruptcy Court's websites or call the Clerk's Office in one of those districts.
'Hope this helps. If my office can be of any assistance in Jax., please give us a call. I have handled BR cases for about 16 years (along with criminal, family, probate and debtor/creditor law cases). Good luck. Tom Rosenblum
