Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Florida

Credit card company sues debitor

i lost my job in june of 2000, tried to get my home daycare license again (was licensed back in 97) and was delayed doing so for 7 months longer than expected, therefore i had to stop paying my unsecured debts and just worry about my kids and my home. Now, I am being sued by one (so far) of my credit card companys I owe money to. Today is friday, I a suppose to go to court pretrial on Tuesday next week, what do I do? Should I find an attorney and file bankruptcy now? Is it to late? what's going to take place if I don't file right away, please answer as soon as possible. thank you
