Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Florida

Credit Rating Preserved

The quick question is -- how do I preserve my credit rating? I am an Accountant with my own business. My husband is a national public speaker. We have been married 28 years -- last child just left for college (3 children). I have no debt. We have no joint credit cards. My credit rating is 823 out of 850. He has $130,000 worth of credit card debt (9 cards) and has co-signed $60,000 worth of student loans for my oldest son. This is not a new problem. I finally began separating everything after (joint) bankruptcy in 1995. My question is -- if he starts crumbling with his credit, will I go over the cliff, too? We sold our home a year ago and broke even. Renting a home now. Car is in my name (paid for). He has a car, too (he charged it....)Please help!!

Re: Credit Rating Preserved

As long as the debt is not in your name, your credit rating will not be affected. To be safe, you can use a service like myfico.com to monitor your credit to make sure nothing gets mistakenly placed on your credit.
