Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Florida
creditor's right to sell debt for collection after chapter 7 bankruptcy granted
I filed chapter 7 bankruptcy on 12/20/1999 in Florida. It was granted on 03/07/2000. My largest creditor/debt was included in the filing, however they have sold my debt to a collection agency, who have in turn, sent me a letter for payment arangements. It's been over 6 years since my bankrupcy. Can they still collect from me, put it on my credit, sue me and get a judgement, or have any legal grounds to collect? Am I not free from this debt? What can I do?

There is no right to collect the debt. Do not pay. I urge you to consult with competent counsel, (such as myself) to review your rights and potential action you may take.
