Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Florida
Current Bankruptcy Law Effective 01/01/03
I am having an impossible time finding out if there has been a change in the Bankruptcy laws in Florida. Concerning Chapter 11 - Can I still be forgiven of all debt, or as a friend told me recently, after 01/01/03, all people who file for bankruptcy must repay their debt.
I really would appreciate an answer. I am so grateful I found your site.
Thank you very much -

There are no changes in the bankruptcy code for 2003.

Chapter 11 is for a business reorganization plan, which envisions paying out the company's liabilities over a period of time and making other arrangements regarding the debt. I am unaware of what your friend is referring to, but there has been a movement to clamp down on credit card debts of individuals.
I would suggest you seek the advise of legal counsel.
Good luck.
