Does it make sense to file for bankruptcy if all my debt is credit card and I have no assets

Maybe. If you have nothing to be taken by your creditors, you may not need to file bankruptcy. It may come down to whether your wages can be garnished. You should sit down with a bankruptcy lawyer and discuss your entire situation.

If you have only one debt it really depends on how significant it is. When you file a chapter 7 you give up the right to do so again for 8 years.
