Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Florida
I need to declare bankruptcy. I have about $60,000 debt with loans and credit cards. My only income is $1200 a month from social security disability and I can't afford a lawyer. Is there a legal agency that I can contact who can do the bankruptcy without costing me much money? Thank you.

You can try to contact legal aid in your community to see if they are able to process a bankruptcy for you. If they are not able to do that for you, you will have to hire an attorney for this. The usual bankruptcy attorney will accept payments, and you might be able to get the court costs waived. The filing fee for a chapter 7 is 335, and you have to take two classes which total bout 40 bucks. Paralegals charge a lot less than attorneys do, but they are not able to give you legal advice or represent you as an attorney will, they are only authorized to fill out forms. I just completed a bankruptcy for a fellow who took over a year to pay me.
