Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Florida
Ex-husband files bankruptcy in Florida
My ex-husband lives in Florida and I received in the mail, yesterday, a copy of a bankruptcy petition filed on his behalf. My question is simply, is there anything I need to do to protect myself and my current husband? There are two (2) accounts that still show my name and my ex's name on the accounts. Thank you.

Re: Ex-husband files bankruptcy in Florida
With what type of protection are you concerned? If there are balances due on the two accounts you may have a liability. In that regard, you should take your name off the accounts. That will protect you as to future liability. If you receive child support or alimony, you should file a proof of claim and object to the discharge. This is true even though those items are non-dischargeable. You may reach me at 305-940-8080.
