Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Florida

Father-in-law files bankruptcy and is terminal

My father-in-law filed for bankruptcy and was told to pay restitution of $3000. He is in the final stages of cancer and has very little life insurance. When he dies will his bankruptcy restitution and all his medical and other bills come out of his life insurance? If so, since his life insurance will not cover the entire amount owed will my husband and I have to pay the rest of his bills. There is no wife and my husband is the only child.
