Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Florida

Can i file Bankruptcy for a civil judgment

Good morning. If the court approves a judgement against me for a civil case, can i file bankruptcy for this judgement? If so, can the plaintiff sue me again after the bankruptcy has been approved?

Thank you.

First, if you file bankruptcy you must list all debts, no exception. This includes judgments against you. The judgment may or may not be discharged depending upon the findings made by the court. The judgment will need to be reviewed by local bankruptcy counsel for a definitive anser. The creditor can object to your discharge or the dischargeability of the debt. These matters arise post-petition. Again contact local bankruptcy counsel for a specific answer.
