Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Florida

I need to file for bankruptcy.I am not working, have not since July, 08.No money comming in.I am either living in my moms car, at her HUD senior living apt., or my brothers home in Tampa.I have no assets. My total dept is about 15,000-20,000, which are credit cards.I was using a dept solutions group, up until three months ago, when my money finally ran out. What I need is someone who can help me at no cost, or low cost. Are there such places?I am in Winter Park, Florida, which is in Orlando.

No. Attorneys don't work for free any more than Sears gives out washers for free, at least not in these situations. It's not illegal for an attorney to give his or her time away, and, in fact, attorneys generally give away thousands of dollars each worth of their time each year, but it's generally done for churches, temples, schools, non-profit organizations, crime victims, abuse victims, etc. You may find an attorney to help you if you call around, but most people facing bankruptcy are in situations similar to yours, and yet bankruptcy attorneys still must charge them in order to survive.

On the other hand, are you really a good candidate for bankruptcy? You have no money and no assets. If someone sues you--assuming they could even find you--what could they take? Debt counseling, probably an arm of a credit card company, took your last dollar. That was, as debt counseling agencies often are, probably a scam to get a credit card paid. Maybe it's best for you to focus on getting a job now and worry about bankruptcy, if it's even necessary, later. You should get a free consultation from a bankruptcy lawyer to be sure.
