Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Florida
Filing Location
I have lived and worked in Florida for the past 10 years and became unemployed 10/2002. I am temp staying with family in New York State having my Florida unemployment benefits sent to NYS. Would I file Chapter 7 in Florida or New York State? I have been in NYS since 11/2002 on a temporary basis. What is the rule of law here? Thank-you

Re: Filing Location
If Florida is your residence, it would be more appropriate to file a Chapter 7 in Florida than New York. However, if you have established residency in New York, according to NY law, then you could file your Chapter 7 in New York.
Should you need to consult an attorney for your Chapter 7 in Florida, my offices would be happy to assist.
Good luck.
