Can you continue to work on mitigation of a mortgage even if you are in the process of filing bankrupcy

Yes, if you are trying to do a short sale or trying to save on the property, mitigation is recommended even if you are in the process of filing bankruptcy. Once you file bankruptcy, you may still be able to mitigate, however, if you are the debtor than the creditors are usually hesistant to mitigate while there is an ongoing chapter 7 bankruptcy.
