Filing for Chap 7 or Chap 13 under U.S. bankruptcy law requires residency in a specific state or jurisdiction governed by the law. You should specify your residency for the last two years which can affect your bankruptcy options. For example, states differ in their property exemptions provided to the debtor. Then discuss it with an experienced attorney in your state or place of residency.
