Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Florida

My husband is filing for Bankruptcy, will that effect my credit?

My husband is filing for bankruptcy. A lien was placed in his name against out jointly owned home. The lien holder is refusing to negotiate and he will be filing for bankruptcy to remove this debt and lein. Will his bankruptcy effect me in any way as far as my credit is concerned? We currently do not have a mortage and I (only) will in the future be obtaining a mortgage. Will his filing be associated with my credit in any way?

Many thanks for your assistance.

the bankruptcy should only effect jointly held debts. It is important for you to monitor your credit bureau to make sure that it does not affect yours. Our firm offers a inexpensive service to review and clear up errors with your credit bureaus if you find any problem. [email protected]
