What to do about my husband filing chapter 7

I would like to ask you about my husband bankrupting chapter 7 and we are still married waiting for a divorce,he is leting the home go and putting all the bills on me and I have not worked nor do I now. Should I, or can I file chapter 7 too. His in Kentucky and I live in Florida for over a year now. Can you advise me please? Please e-mail me if you have time please. Thank You

If you have an atty representing you in the divorce proceeding, I urge you to discuss this with him. To give you a complete answer, I would have to have a consultation with you to fully explore the nature and extent of the assets and liabilities. Of course when I say "I' I refer to any competent bankruptcy atty of your choice.

His filing should not effect your property interests. However his defaults can cause foreclosure proceedings to be commenced as well as actions by other creditors against you to collect on joint bills.

Clearly you should consult with an atty at the earliest possible time.
