Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Florida
Is there a law that prohibits long drawn out chapters 7 bankruptcy cases? I thought I read that the process should not be so long as where it unreasonably prohibits the debtor to move forward.

The debtor can move forward. The operative date is the date of filing. In theory, the bankruptcy estate is made up of everything that is owed and everything that is owned on the date of filing. The debts that are owed will be discharged, usually within a few months. If there is an adversarial proceeding filed, this can be delayed.
