what do should i do if i am getting sued by the credit union after i voluntary repossesed my car?

Legally, voluntary repossession is the same as involuntary repossession. Either way it goes on your credit as a repossession, and the credit union has the right to sue you for whatever was left on the balance of the loan after they sold the car.
You should speak with a lawyer to see what defenses you may have to the lawsuit. You may have none, but you may be able to defend yourself against collections. You may also want to consider filing bankruptcy.
