Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Florida
I have a reverse mortgage, and the mortgage Co. is filing foreclosure, because I did not pay the taxes or insurance last year. I want to know if I can file bankruptcy, and how will that affect the foreclosure process?

The bankruptcy filing will "stay" the foreclosure proceeding in most instances atleast for the time to allow the judge to hear a motion for removing the automatic stay. However, there are exceptions to the automatic stay going into effect so you'll want to review everything with an attorney as soon as possible to make sure you have a plan going into the bankruptcy and that plan has a good probability of success. Hope this helps.
