Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Florida
There is a reverse mortgage on my 83 year old mother's house, which is maxed out. Her only income is from social security, and she cannot pay credit card companies. She is being called daily, and now Citibank is suing her to collect $15,000. Can she file bankruptcy and keep the house? She does not own a car.

Based on the facts described in your inquiry and assuming her bankruptcy would be filed under Chapter 7, she would not be able to retain the house which is secured by a mortgage without a renegotiated mortgage or other resolution worked out with the mortgagee.
