Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Florida
Un-filed taxes and possible bankruptcy
Due to mental health issues, fire (loosing all personal property [but was insured]& tax records..hubby had business that went under) & variety of reasons, we haven't filed taxes for 6 yrs. I am uninsured & unable to work due to mental problems (nervous breakdown - not on meds due to lack of insurance-but did collect disability insurance for 18 months). Where do I start in getting our life back on track as far as filing taxes and possible bankruptcy? Up until last yr my husband didn't make much money. We've moved and left no forwarding addresses. We've both worked (me temping, hubby construction) utilizing our SSN's & current addresses but never been contacted by the IRS. How do I know if they filed for us? I'm ashamed, embarrassed and petrifide about this and its causing me more anguish by not doing anything... but its a new year and I must resolve these issues. We cannot even open a bank account. Where do I start? I hope this made some sense to somebody that can assist me. Thank you for your time.

Re: Un-filed taxes and possible bankruptcy
It is not too late to get your life together. Sometimes all we have is hope for a better day :) 1st I would contact an accountant about filing the returns or an affidavit of no return. If you do not have one I will refer you to mine. Next I would get ready to file your case to clear the books of your debts. Good luck.
