Legal Question in Business Law in Florida

Under 21 sitting at a bar.

What is the current law regarding an under21 person sitting at a bar at a ''Bar & Grill'' Restaurant, eating a meal? A local establishment has changed their rules after allowing this practice for the past five years. The establishment was ''busted'' by ATF for serving a minor alcohol. Can local establishments toughen the law even if it is legal for this practice?

Re: Under 21 sitting at a bar.

To my knowledge, there is not a state law regulating this. There may be a county or city code which regulates this. In any event, individual establishments may make more strict regulations than those imposed by law -- so long as their reason for the restriction is not a discriminatory reason (race, religion, gender). In this case, I believe the individual establishment owner may impose the restriction that persons under 21 may not sit at the bar.
