Legal Question in Business Law in Florida

Ads On Craigs List

I have recently posted a ad on Craigs list offer moving and hauling help for the lowest prices in town. Is there anything ilegal about this at all. After posting the ad I had someone sending me a email telling me that I need to know my moving laws prior to advertising myself as a mover. He stated in the email that Effective July 1, 2002, Chapter 507, Florida Statutes requires any person engaged in intrastate moving to register annually with the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Division of Consumer Services. What does this mean I have not done any jobs yet at all just posted the ad. I have deleted all the ads till I got legal advise. Is this something I should worry about ?

Thanks, John

Nothing happpened so nothingto worry about. Go to myflorida . com and then go to government and then legislature. You will see a hotling for "look up Florida statutes." That will lead you to Florida statutes and you can find chapter 507, which does regulate household moving. That will tell you what you need to know.

Re: Ads On Craigs List

If you have not yet transacted any business, you probably dont have anything to worry about. However, if you anticipate transacting business in the future, you should get an attorney to help you put the pieces in place to do it properly. There are more concerns than those you have raised here, and you want to make sure you avoid the pitfalls.

I would be happy to discuss the situation with you. Please feel free to contact me at your convenience.
