When an attorney who is an employee of a law firm in New Jersey becomes a partner, does the Insurer providing 'Directors and Officers' coverage do any approving or vetting of that attorney before he is allowed to be a partner ?

With near certainty, the answer is "no." The insurance company is not part of that process.
