Legal Question in Business Law in Florida
Breaking a contract agreement
My ex signed a contract with an alarm company for 5 years. A year after signing the agreement he moved out because of a court ordered injunction. I presented this paperwork to the alarm co for the sole purpose of removing his name. They sent me the proper paperwork to removed his name and mine was added. Shortly after that the company had several buy-outs. After 5 years from the original contract date I cancelled them and went with another company. They say that I have 1 yr left on my contract. It was never explained to me that I was renewing the contract for another 5 yrs. All I was doing was changing names because of the injunction. Can they do this since it was never explained and because they have changed names several times??????

Re: Breaking a contract agreement
The alarm company can do what they wish. It doesn't make them right. You will probably receive dunning calls and letters. Save the letters and keep a log of the calls. If you are sued, call me immediately..305-940-8080.
