Legal Question in Business Law in Florida
Can a business contact my employer for an issue unrealted to my employment?
I told a business that I would be filing a complaint with the BBB as well as posting an online review of what I consider to be questionable business practices. This business currently has an F rating with the FL BBB. Using my email address, which I made the unfortuante mistake of using my business email to contact them in the first place, they have tracked the name of my supervisor and businesses attorney and have threatened to contact them as what looks like retaliation. Can they do this?
1 Answer from Attorneys
Any business or franchise attorney will say they can do anything they want. The real issue is whether their acts have legal consequences. So the answer is yes, they can contact your employer. Depending on what is said and discussed, you may (or may not) have the right to a legal remedy against them. Without more details, it's not possible to say either way. Consult with a good business or franchise attorney in your area for specific advice.
