Legal Question in Business Law in Florida

Business contract

I operated a business in Fla in 2004 and leased my phone equipment. In 2005 I closed my business, contacted the company that sold me the equipment and since I personally guaranteed the payment on the contract, asked them what I could do. They informed me to send the equipment back and they would handle it with the leasing company. I moved to South Carolina in 2005 and in April 2006 received legal papers that I breached my contract and was being sued for the balance. I contacted their attorney and told him what happened and that I was unemployed and filing for disability what arrangements we could make. We made arrangements for me to pay $100. per month until the balance is settled. I did not sign his legal paperwork because he wanted me to sign as the President of a company that no longer existed. A year later he is contacting me and telling me if I do not sign his legal paperwork he is going to proceed with legal action for the remainder of the contract.

Do I need to repay this contract since the contract was for $4,500 and I have already repaid $1,200 plus returned the phone equipment and do I have to sign his legal paperwork? I did not breach my original contract, I was told this matter was settled.

An attorney will need to read your contract to know your options.
