Legal Question in Business Law in Florida
My business has been sent a letter threatening lawsuit if I don't pay them $5000 in seven days to make them go away. I don't have $5000 to pay them and don't have any money to fight a case. What are my options? I tried offering the product to the client and they refused. They are very unreasonable people and don't seem to be willing to negotiate.

Any attorney will say there is not enough information here to provide any type of answer. What did your business sell or do to this person? How did they arrive at $5,000? If you re-post with the need information, you will likely get an answer. And remember, money to prosecute a case will not be cheap for them, unless they file in small claims court. But if that happens, you can defend yourself there. You may be able to counter-sue if they owe you anything. A lot of people threaten to sue. Few actually follow through. Consult with a good business attorney in your area for specific advice.
