Legal Question in Business Law in Florida

Use of business names on websites

There is a website that lists jewelry businesses and addresses etc without consent of the business owners. When consumers do a Google search on the jeweler's name in most cases it is taken to the site with the listings and promotes online competitors.

Is it leagl for this entity to list the reatil jewelers without their consent? Also the public is allowed to post comments and in most cases the jeweler is unaware of the posts an therefore is unable to defend the post.

All the jewelers I have spoken with are very unhappy and mad about the situation. I think a class action suite should be filed if possible.

I don't see how the interent entity has the right to use a registered business name without the owner's consent.

You may want to repost your question and ask a California attorney. They seem to know a lot about internet and computer law. good luck.
