Legal Question in Business Law in Florida
Business Purchase Contrat
I purchased a business and a contigency of the sale was the ''transfer'' of the leased building to me. Upon renewal of the lease I was told that the lease was not ''transfered'' but that I was added to the lease. Therefore I need all the tenants, the old owner included, to sign the renewal. He is refusing. I was added to the lease but it should have been transfered to me per the contact. I was added to the lease as an additional tenant is that the same as the lease being ''transfered'' to me? If I am unable to renew I could lose the business???

The answser depends upon how your lease reads. You should be able to renew on your own.
