Legal Question in Business Law in Florida

Business registration question

Yes I have a corporation and have will be opening my second location shortly. I second location has a slightly different name so that it would not confuse customers. To be safe and legal and to make sure I am the rightful owner do I register it separately as a new business or can I somehow umbrella it under my original corporation? Or do I listed as a DBA? I just want to be legal and safe so no untrusting person tries to steal it from me. Thanks

Re: Business registration question

You can either form a new corporation (or LLC) and use a DBA for your new location or you can use the old corporation. It will save you the cost of filing a second tax return if you use the old corporation, but you may want to speak with your accountant about what's best.

Legally, it's something of a hassle to deal with two corporations, but your accountant may think it's better for tax reasons.
