Buyer deported. Who gets escrow
Hello. We had a buyer from Russia set to close on our business 12/10/07, however, 2 days before closing, he was picked up by INS and was deported and nowwhere to be found. They put $5,000 down in escrow. The escrow attorney said they can't get ahold of buyer. Don't we get the money since they were deported even if the buyer doesn't get back to them? Please help!!!

Look to your contract. It sounds like the buyer failed to perform and the 5k should go to you.
