Commission based pay laws

My husband works for a company that issues sales goals to which the employees must perform to in order to receive bonuses. The base salary is rather small, but the bonuses tend to make up for that. He was issued sales goals for the 2002 year to which both he and his boss signed to and he has a copy of. His boss has now told him that he needs to increase his goals because is is exceeding them by too much. Now he received his statement that details his bonus for the month of Feb which has now already passed and the boss has retroacively gone back and changed those goals as well, so now my husband's check is bonus is half of what it would have been. I am wondering the legalities of this and if the sales contract he signed is legally binding and his goals cannot be increased?

The boss has changed the rules of the game way after the game started. Besides going back on his agreement with your husband and creating a situation where no employee can ever place any faith on his promises, the boss is plainly wrong. Seek the advice of an employment litigation attorney and good luck.

Demand and if necessary sue for the money. Note, the job may no longer be available.

Not as much law as it is integrity. The boss promised,the employee performed. Make him pay up.
