A company threatening to sue me

I was doing business with a manufacturer of products located in another country. I used to purchase products directly from them to sell them here in the Florida. My company even paid for slotting fees to get those products in some stores, however a contract was never signed for distribution, now they are sending letter threatening to sue if I continue selling their product in this market.

(their products were not known by anyone before I put them in the market)I guess they are trying to appoint a big company to distribute the product after I did the ''dirty work'' of putting the product in the marketplace in the first place.Can they sue?

Sure, they can sue. A lawsuit can be filed by anyone, and that's the beauty of the American system which provides easy access to the courts. It is also a problem in that frivolous suits get filed from time to time. If the manufacturer sold you the products knowing that you would be selling them in Florida, then the threatened lawsuit may not have much bite. You would need to meet with an attorney and provide all pertinent documents relating to your matter in order to obtain an informed opinion regarding your legal options. Good luck.

You have provided insufficient information to give you a complete answer. You should bring all your pertinent documentation to an attorney for his/her review. Thereafter you options will be known.

Anyone with the dollars for the filing fees can start a suit. Starting suit does not equate with it being meritorious.
