corporate email

are personal emails sent over corporate servers subject to monitoring by the corporation? is it legal for them to do so?

Most likely. It is their servers and technically their property. You probably don't have a legitimate expectation of privacy. However, your case may vary. Do not take this as gospel.

Absolutely. Emails sent while using a company computer on a company network is subject to monitoring. There is no right to expectation of privacy. Anything you send may be monitored by your employer and may subject you to dismissal.
