Do you have to be a corporation or incorporated to be a legal Association?

Hi. If you are referring to an association such as a condominium association, then yes, you do. Under Florida Statutes, 718.104(4)(i):
(4) The declaration must contain or provide for the following matters:
(i) The name of the association, which must be a corporation for profit or a corporation not for profit.
