Legal Question in Business Law in Florida
Employer holding final paycheck
Does anyone know if it is legal for an employer to keep your final paycheck (after they fire you) if you have an outstanding balance with that company?
I tried contacting lawyers and what not, but their response was I need to take this to small claims court, So Im trying to decide if its worth taking this to small claims court....
My final check is under $800, but my previous employer is now charging me service fees of $200 on the unpaid balance, plus never gave me my final paycheck.

Re: Employer holding final paycheck
They can hold back as much as they claim you owe them. The lawyers are right; your remedy is small claims court.
