Legal Question in Business Law in Florida
My employer is a 3rd tier contractor working on a new building for a utilities company in FLA. We were issued a PO for services from the mechanical firm who is contracted direct to the GC with no reference to the following. The owner (Utility) wants the last 4 SSI digits of anyone involved with the project that will be on site. Is this legal?

You might want to get clearer on what's going on. There's no law which says "it is illegal to ask for the last 4 digits of someone's SSN."
Good luck.
While not illegal, asking for a partial SSN can increase the risk of identity theft or fraud. However, the last four digits of your social security number can be used in a legitimate way for verification of a person's identity. Since you are not the Utilities company's employee or contractor, I'd ask why they want it, since it could be an infringement of your privacy. It may be a government requirement that anyone working on the premises must have a SSN.
