Legal Question in Business Law in Florida
Can an employer require employees to get a flu shot? And if the employee declines, can the company require that employee to wear a mask while at work?
1 Answer from Attorneys
It depends on where you work. I can imagine that if you are in a medical office or hospital what is being requested of you is appropriate and proper. (Unless you are a Christian Science adherent.)
If you are not in a medical field I would not think the demand for a flu shot or the alternative of wearing a mask would be permitted. If you agree to wear the mask you should also volunteer to make all the bank deposits until the mask comes off. You will be surprised what wearing a surgical mask into a bank will stir-up.
Please remember, Florida is run by the Tea-Party and employees in the private sector have very few if any rights. You can be fired for no reason at all.
