Legal Question in Business Law in Florida
Am I entitled to this money?
I helped someone to start a business. I put in many hours, my own money to survive on while working this business. I was originally made to believe I was a partner in this business but of course there was never anything legal claiming me as a business partner. My name used to be on the checking account for the business. We were also in a personal relationship. During a split up, we both signed a piece of paper stating that when this business was making a profit he would pay me $15,000.00 before taxes for the work I did for him. It is signed and dated by both of us but not notorized. We have since broken up for good and I have repeatedly tried to get him to pay me as he stated but to no avail. Do I have any rights to recoup this money and if so, how do I legally go about settling this matter ?

Re: Am I entitled to this money?
You may have sufficient basis to assert a claim for money owed and/or an interest in the business, but you would need to personally consult with an attorney regarding all of the facts and supporting documentation to allow the lawyer to determine your rights and the legal options that may be available to you, and to discuss the pros and cons associated with filing suit. Good luck.
