Legal Question in Business Law in Florida
Extortion
I own a franchise and I fell behind in my payments and was placed on COD for my food deliveries. The franchisor is demanding an additional $600.00 weekly on top of the actual food invoice or they will not deliver my food order. Also, they constantly use the threat of shutting me down before I am able to sell my store if I do not make other additional payments.
Does this fall under the RICO ACT definition for extortion?
