If i fire my current lawyer, do i have any rights to documents he is holding for my case?

Yes. However, attorney may charge you copy costs. If there is an outstanding balance due, there could be some issue for negotiations. You should look to your retainer agreement to find out what your rights are. The issue of termination is usually covered there in.

Your lawyer has a right to charge you copying costs and need not give you anything if you owe him or her money.

Yes, ask for them. The other attorneys are correct that the attorney may charge you copy costs and does not have to give you the papers until you pay any outstanding balance owed to the attorney. Regards,
